Say what you will about the quality of the opponent, but the Seattle Sounders’ confidence has to be soaring right now. Fresh off beating Cal United FC 6-0 on Wednesday, the Sounders followed that up with a 5-1 win over the same team on Thursday. This version of the Sounders was completely different, although it still had plenty of firepower.
The Sounders played a 4-4-2 diamond. Will Bruin and Clint Dempsey were deployed as forwards with Magnus Eikrem at tip of the midfield. It worked about as well as you’d hope.
Eikrem and Bruin each scored two goals and had an assist, while Dempsey picked up a couple assists. Nouhou even got in on the scoring, streaking in for a one-v-one chance.
The Sounders will now return to Seattle before ending preseason by playing Sacramento Republic on Feb. 15.
