The United States Men’s National Team is heading to Cary, N.C. to face Paraguay in a friendly match on March 27, and Cristian Roldan will be going with them. This time he’ll be flying solo without best friend and national team regular Jordan Morris, who is out for the year with a torn ACL sustained in the CCL away leg in Santa Tecla.
Roldan will be looking for his third cap after a strong 2017 season for the Sounders and a handful of U.S. call-ups. Though Cristian has seen limited minutes on the field with the national team, Dave Sarachan has called up a very young and internationally inexperienced roster. In the midfield only 2 players who will be reporting to North Carolina — Darlington Nagbe and Wil Trapp — have more caps than Roldan, giving him the opportunity to establish himself as a strong option for the US.
Roldan’s call-up shouldn’t affect the Sounders, as the team has a bye with the next match on March 31 at the Montreal Impact.
