Still winless six weeks into the MLS season, the Seattle Sounders will again be down an expected starter. Kelvin Leerdam is serving a suspension for his slap in the loss to the Impact. That means that the 0-3-0 -5 Sounders will likely struggle against the Western Conference Leaders. Sporting Kansas City is 4-1-1 +3 good for second in the Supporters’ Shield race. They are also tied for the league lead with six matches played (Vancouver, Columbus). Seattle and Toronto still only have three league matches under their belt as they cleared their regular season schedule for CONCACAF Champions League play.
The Sporks score 2 goals a game and have given up 1.5 goals against per match. Schmetzer’s team has yet to score a goal and give up 1.66 goals per game. The two normally stout defenses are leaky in the early 2018 season.
