Three Sounders home games have new times and one of them has a new day, the team announced. The May 26 home match against Real Salt Lake, the September 19 game against Philadelphia and the October 6 match, now October 8, against Houston.
The Real Salt Lake match is the next home game for Seattle and moved back an hour to a 2pm start to allow fans to watch the UEFA Champions League final at 11:45. The Sounders are running a promo with the Seattle Mariners for a double header, which make sense with to move back with the Mariners starting at 7:10pm. The Sounders last home game against Columbus started five hours before the Mariners first pitch and even that seemed long for doing a double header.
Sounders play the Philadelphia Union on September 19 and are moving back to 8pm from 7:30pm. It should help alleviate some of the traffic congestion.
CenturyLink Field will play host to the Seahawks-Rams on October 7. By moving the game from being the day before to the day after the Hawks, there should be minimal football lines. With the Sounders kicking off at 7:30pm on October 8 against the Houston Dynamo, there is about 26 hours between the end of the Seahawks game and the kickoff for the Sounders to clear the football lines.
