In what should not come as any sort of surprise, Roman Torres is among the 23 players named to Panama’s World Cup 2018 roster. Panama made the official announcement on Wednesday, notably positioning Torres front and center in the social media image.

The only thing that had put any sort of doubt into Torres’ spot was a hamstring injury that has kept him from playing for the Seattle Sounders since their April 22 win over Minnesota United. It is not known the degree to which Torres has recovered, but he has been in Colombia for at least a couple of weeks, working with the same doctors who helped him recover from his ACL tear back in 2015-16.
We probably won’t find out much about Torres’ status until next week. Panama’s only World Cup warmup game is on June 6 against Norway, after which they open their World Cup campaign on June 18 against Belgium. Their group also includes England and Tunisia.
