FULLTIME: The Sounders were forced to settle for a scoreless tie despite playing a man up for 75 minutes. Their best chance to score came in the 73rd minute when Will Bruin cut back a ball to a streaking Clint Dempsey, but this left-footed attempt was well saved by Zach Steffen. It would be the Sounders’ only shot on goal.
MARSHALL OUT: Handwalla Bwana replaced Chad Marshall at halftime. There has not yet been any announcement as to why Marshall was pulled, but it is assumed to be some sort of injury.
HALFTIME: Despite playing for about 35 minutes up a man, the Sounders haven’t created many quality scoring chances. The Crew, meanwhile, are probably a bit unlucky to not have at least one with Gyasi Zardes and Milton Valenzuela missing relatively clear chances.
RED CARD: Pedro Santos was shown a red card in the 15th minute for effectively kicking Alex Roldan in the face on an attempted clearance. No foul was initially called on the play but VAR determined that it was a dangerous play.
And Santos is sent off for this challenge.

Pregame: Nicolas Lodeiro was left off the 18 after spending most of the week attempting to recovery from an unspecified injury. Brian Schmetzer is expected to address the specifics of the injury in the postgame, but it is not believed to be serious.
A matchday with some sun, blue skies and rave green adorning the stands. This is the perfect day for soccer, hopefully for good soccer. Seattle Sounders return home to everything that makes Seattle great. We have our Sound, we have our pride, we have our struggles, we have knowledge that this too will pass.
Columbus Crew SC are pretty darn good right now.
They are not the Seattle Sounders FC.
Absences: Injury, international duty and suspension
Seattle: Jordan Morris, Victor Rodriguez and Roman Torres are out. Waylon Francis, Chad Marshall and Harry Shipp are questionable.
Crew: They list zero players as out or questionable. I hate them.
Federico Higuain and Milton Valenzuela are in danger of missing games due to accumulation. They would need two yellow cards.
Hilario Grejada is the center referee. Rosendo Mendoza is his video assistant.
