DeAndre Yedlin made a bit of history when he started for Newcastle in their 1-0 loss to Tottenham on Wednesday. It was Yedlin’s 30th start of the season, a milestone only reached by four other Americans field players in history.
DeAndre Yedlin starts for Newcastle today.

He's the fourth American field player to start 30 games in a Premier League season (Cameron, Dempsey x2, McBride x2).
The accomplishment is a little less impressive when you include goalkeepers, though. Even just looking at Puget Sound natives, there are two of them who started at least 30 matches in a Premier League season. The 24-year-old Seattle native joins Kasey Keller who did it twice for Tottenham (2002-03 and 2003-04) and Marcus Hahnemann, who did it twice for Reading (2006-07 and 2007-08).
Combined with his season at Sunderland, Yedlin now has 51 career Premier League starts and should build on that next season as Newcastle have already secured safety. They currently sit 10th in the table, eight points clear of the final relegation spot with one match left to play.
