With CONCACAF U20 World Cup Qualifying in November, the United States continues its preparation with a training camp from July 15-22 in Raleigh, N.C. That camp of 20 young men features two with ties to the Seattle Sounders — Sam Rogers and Trey Muse. Muse is Sounders Academy product who is currently enrolled at Indiana University. Rogers is a starting center back with Sounders 2.
In January, Muse indicated he would return for his sophomore season, but after trials in Europe his decision is going to be more complicated. He recently spent time training with the Sounders organization, thereby maintaining their ability to sign him as a Homegrown Player. While with the Academy, Muse was twice the Western Conference Keeper of the Year and in his final season was the Western Conference Player of the Year. He is widely regarded as the best keeper in college soccer.
Good week of training with @SoundersFC. Grateful for the opportunity, always a pleasure being back in Seattle!

Sam Rogers is in his second year of professional play with S2. In 2017, he split time with the Sounders U18s and S2, earning Western Conference Best XI recognition. The former defensive midfielder now has more than 3,000 professional minutes as a center back. He turned 19 in May. S2 coach John Hutchinson called Rogers callup “fantastic for the organization,” knowing that it would weaken his squad for a couple matches.
