It looks like Nicolas Lodeiro could be back with the Uruguay national team. The Seattle Sounders midfielder was among the list of 25 players named to the roster for the Sept. 7 friendly against Mexico. The Sounders have a matches on Sept. 1 and 15, meaning he should be available for both.

“It’s a preliminary list, not the official one but it’s always wonderful to be part of the national team,” Lodeiro told Sounder at Heart’s Niko Moreno shortly after Saturday’s match. “It’s always great to be there. The call-up got me very happy. It confirms my current form, it gives me happiness, it motivates me to keep working. I work for this and it’s a beautiful reward.”
Lodeiro is in the midst of some of the best play he’s ever enjoyed. Since being sent home from the Uruguay World Cup team — ostensibly because of a lingering injury — Lodeiro has six goals and seven assists in 13 matches, including two assists on Saturday. The Sounders have gone 8-2-3 in those matches and have climbed back into the playoff race.
“I have to enjoy it,” Lodeiro said. “We have to keep on winning with the Sounders, because it’s thanks to them that I’m now with the national team.”
