SEATTLE — Raúl Ruidíaz left Wednesday’s match with a sprained ankle. The injury happened around the 30th minute a few minutes later he was replaced by Will Bruin. Sounders head coach Brian Schmetzer said it was a separate injury from the one he sustained during during training with Peru and forced him to miss one of their friendlies.
Although he was removed from the match, he was able to walk off the field under his own power and came back with the team after halftime. He was still walking without assistance, but he did have a significant limp. After the game, he did not appear to have any sort of significant wrap. Schmetzer said he’d have an update on Ruidíaz’s availability for Sunday’s match against the LA Galaxy later in the week.
Prior to the injury, Ruidíaz had been enjoying another strong performance. He had taken three shots, hit the post once and forced Andre Blake into a very tough save on another.
