Debut episode of Jordan Morris docuseries is a tear-jerker

That part where Morris talks about his dad delivering the bad news about his injury is going to get you.

As we’ve documented a few times, Jordan Morris is deep into his rehabilitation from the torn ACL he suffered back in February. Turns out, the Seattle Sounders are documenting that whole journey in a sort of docuseries.

The debut episode dropped today and if it’s indicative of the series as a whole, it’s going to be an emotional ride.

I’m not sure if it’s just the parent in me, but I was seriously fighting back tears when Morris and his father were recalling the scenes in El Salvador when the seriousness of the injury is becoming obvious.

“It’s an interesting dynamic having my dad as the team doctor,” Morris said. “I almost felt bad for him that he had to be the one to tell me. As a parent — I’m not a parent — but I can imagine that feeling of telling your kid that he tore his ACL and he’s out for the season. That was tough.”

That’s the sort of human side we so rarely get to see from athletes and it suggest that this series will live up to the standards that the Sounders’ digital team has previously set.
