FULL-TIME: Behind a brace from Raúl Ruidíaz and goals from Nicolas Lodeiro and Victor Rodriguez, the Seattle Sounders emphatically halted their two-game losing streak with a 4-0 win over the Colorado Rapids on Saturday. The win at least temporarily vaulted them into fourth place in the Western Conference and they are just four points shy of second place.
SOUNDERS 4, RAPIDS 0: Victor Rodriguez effectively sealed the win with his second goal of the season, a rocketed shot from the right wing off a feed from Will Bruin.

SOUNDERS 3, RAPIDS 0: Raúl Ruidíaz has his second brace in four games after finishing off a Nicolas Lodeiro pass in the 72nd minute. It was Ruidíaz’s seventh goal of the season and Lodeiro’s 11th assist.

The sequence started with Cristian Roldan intercepting a pass in the Rapids’ end and pushing it forward. Lodeiro charged into the box and was able to fight off a couple defenders to find Ruidiaz for the relatively easy finish.
Just a few minutes earlier, Ruidíaz had appeared to score another goal after intercepting a pass from Tim Howard, but it was ruled that a substitute had already been called.
SOUNDERS 2, RAPIDS 0: After a solid five-minute stretch to open the second half that put the Sounders under a fair amount of pressure, Seattle stormed back into control when Kelyn Acosta took down Nicolas Lodeiro just inside the penalty area. Lodeiro then stepped up and converted his eighth goal of the season, despite Tim Howard guessing correctly.

SOUNDERS 1, RAPIDS 0: Raúl Ruidíaz got the Sounders off to a strong start, scoring in the 22nd minute off a pass from Nicolas Lodeiro. It was Ruidíaz’s sixth Sounders goal and Lodeiro’s 10th assist of the season.
The sequence starting with Lodeiro putting in Victor Rodriguez on the left wing. Rodriguez then cut it back to Lodeiro, whose shot was saved. The Sounders were first to the rebound, though, and Lodeiro ended up with it before finding Ruidiaz near the penalty spot.

LINEUPS: Chad Marshall and Victor Rodriguez both return to the Seattle Sounders’ starting lineup for Saturday’s virtual must-win game against the Colorado Rapids. Essentially, this is the same lineup the Sounders used against the Philadelphia Union with the exception of Nouhou starting in place of the injured Brad Smith.
There are no easy games, but this one is supposed to be one of the easy ones. The Seattle Sounders are in the hunt for a home playoff game. The Colorado Rapids are already eliminated from the postseason and now play for their 2019 jobs.
Brian Schmetzer will need to adapt to a few new injuries and reboot an offense that went flat in the last two matches. He does so against a team that’s give up 17 goals in their last 6 matches played. The defense should be back to it’s 0 to 1 goal expectation with Chad Marshall back on the field.
Absences: Injury, international duty and suspension
Seattle: Felix Chenkam, Jordan Morris, Harry Shipp and Brad Smith are all out. No other players are listed.
Rapids: Deklan Wynne is suspended. His suspension was overruled, even though he’s still listed in gamenotes. They list no other injuries.
Jordy Delem, Johan Blomberg, and Jack McBean are a single yellow from an accumulation suspension. Osvaldo Alonso, Cristian Roldan, Jordan McCrary, Nouhou,Bismark Adjei-Boateng, Yannick Boli, Niki Jackson, Jack Price, Tommy Smith, and Danny Wilson are two yellows from the same.
Nima Saghafi is the center referee. His video assistant is Ramy Touchan.
