Raúl Ruidíaz suffered a bit of an ankle injury during Tuesday’s training session with the Peru national team when he was tackled by defender Anderson Santamaría (video above). Although Ruidíaz had to be helped off the field and appeared to have some cuts around his ankle, various reports have suggested it wasn’t serious. Ruidíaz was apparently feeling fit enough that he at least tried to train on Wednesday.
I’m being told #SoundersFC Raúl Ruídiaz took a knock (right ankle) during yesterday’s practice with #Perú is not a serious injury, he trained today BUT felt some pain, most likely won’t be at the 11 vs Netherlands tomorrow. If necessary, more test will be done tomorrow @ELROLONW

Assuming Ruidíaz doesn’t feature in Thursday’s match against Netherlands, he could still potentially play against Germany on Sunday.
As of now, this doesn’t appear to be something that should endanger his availability for the Sounders, who don’t play until Sept. 15. Ruidíaz has been instrumental in the Sounders’ turnaround, scoring three goals and adding an assist in eight appearances. His influence has gone well beyond goals and assists, though, as the Sounders have won all eight of the games they’ve played since he made his debut.
