Oh yes, your favorite Seattle Reign FC podcast, “Coffee & Valkyries” is back for 2019! We hope the holidays were good to you and yours as we inch closer to the start of a new Seattle Reign FC campaign, and the second year of the Vlatko Andonovski era.
While most of the 2018 squad will be back, there have been a couple of new additions and the newest one literally arrived in Seattle this week. Forward Shea Groom has joined the squad via a trade with Sky Blue FC in exchange for Nahomi Kawasumi. Of course it is never easy to say goodbye to a fan favorite and Naho was definitely that. However, Groom’s arrival is a very good thing as her blood-thirsty hunger for the ball and desire to score is now an asset for Seattle rather than a problem against them. Her joining the squad also reunites her with Andonovski, who she played for at FC Kansas City from 2015 to 2017, earning an NWSL Championship winner’s medal in her first year.
In this season opener of the podcast, we get to know Groom as she talks about her excitement to be reunited with Vlatko Andonovski, playing alongside fellow tenacious wrecking ball, Jess Fishlock MBE, and the adversity of last season with Sky Blue FC. Along the way shares some fun anecdotes about the Seattle Reign FC head coach.
Get to know Shea Groom and thank you for welcoming us back into your podcast rotation!
