Fan Voices: Make them hear you

We asked various Sounders fans to tell us why this MLS Cup feels special. This is the third of a three-part series.

An MLS Cup Final, at home, in the concrete confines of CenturyLink Field. The brisk sky and sea breeze could make it cold, but 70,000 or so friends will help warm our hearts as we root for Seattle Sounders FC to win our seventh major trophy. At home.

No longer underdogs, no longer disrespected — all American and Canadian soccer eyes will turn to the upper left where the Sounders have dominated; for decades. Eleven straight trips to the MLS Cup Playoffs. Only one time has the Hanauer-Schmetzer combination missed the second season. Combined they have 10 major trophies and probably a dozen or more minor ones.

We Sounders sit on the edge of dynasty.

Together we are mighty. Our voices, strong and gathering like storms, assemble from Dry Side, Peninsula, North End, South Sound and Seattle. Together we are built for this. This family is built on six continents, from a dozen states, from the very neighborhoods that raised us.

We can be legends, together — fans, players, coaches, family.

Our voices will determine what legends are told of a cloudy November day. Our songs will guide the words they write in future weeks and years. Our banners and colors will tell them how to paint us. Will we be dynasty or afterthought?

That’s up to the Sounders family. That’s up to you, for we are all Sounders.

Make Toronto hear us when they sleep Sunday night. Make the great leviathans of the Puget Sound hear us in the depths where they dream. Let the world know that this is our Sound. You will hear us.

You will hear us in your sleep. You will hear us from the deep.

This is our Sound
