The Tacoma Stars are one weekend away from finishing the toughest part of the season — an eight-match stretch, where they played teams that either were leading the division or competing directly for a playoff spot. That stretch ends this weekend, when the Stars double dip with the San Diego Sockers. The Stars are in San Diego on Friday, and host the Sockers on Sunday at 5:05 PM.

Feb. 1 — Stars 6 @ El Paso 5: The Stars traveled to Texas last week for a Friday night match against the El Paso Coyotes. It was a back-and-forth game where the score was ultimately decided by a sloppy offensive frame by the home side. The teams traded three goals in the first half. The second half saw Tacoma strike three times over the 30 minutes. El Paso scored twice in the fourth quarter, but the third Stars goal put any comeback hopes to rest.

Goal scorers: Da Silva 2 (3), Lund (11), Ramos (7), McCluskey (2), Johnson (1)

Roster Moves

Tacoma added goalkeeper Sanaldo Carvalho and defender Jonathan Greenfield, while midfielder Matt Clare has left the Stars to join the Florida Tropics.

Pacific Division standings (GP, W, L)

  1. San Diego 13 12-1
  2. Tacoma 12 6-6
  3. Ontario 15 7-8
  4. Turlock 14 1-13

Nick Perera is tied for the league lead in assists. Perera is also second in total points and in points per game.

Stars midfielder Raphael Cox is third in the league with 21 blocked shots.
