Full-Time Portland wins 2-1: Seattle’s B and C squads took the field in the loss to Portland. The B side stood level with a nearly full strength Timbers side. The Sounders did well at 1-1 with two Defiance players and the two right defenders playing in developmental positions. Both teams made full line changes midway through the second half. Seattle went to their teens, draftees and captain Nouhou.
Minutes before stoppage time a non-call ended the hopes for Seattle to come up with their first points of the preseason.
Wow. Portland scores, but it certainly looks like Nouhou was fouled. pic.twitter.com/s1Dttm7RjS

Prior to that Seattle generated threats only from distance. The youth went at Portland’s defenders frequently, but couldn’t convert their opportunities. Timbers were a touch more clinical, but didn’t test Trey Muse.
Dairon Asprilla’s pass was easily slotted into goal.
Sounders: 1 Bwana (Vargas)
Timbers: 2 Valeri (pk), Ebobisse (Asprilla)
HALF: Diego Valeri slipped in a great kick from the spot. The penalty was called on Jordy Delem who was beat by Andy Polo. The contact was initiated outside the box, but if the foul was for pulling rather than tripping the penalty was the correct call.
Portland will send their starters for 60-65 minutes and Seattle is expecting most of this lineup to go 75.
Sounders: 1 Bwana (Vargas)
Timbers: 1 Valeri
UPDATE 33’: To this point the match was relatively even with both sides getting decent chances, but neither converting. The Sounders are with the expected B team while Portland is mainly their likely starters. Marlon Vargas sprung out right running to a great ball. He used a dribble to establish space to loft the ball to the far post where Handwalla Bwana lurked and slammed home a header.

Preseason continues with a match between the Portland Timbers and Seattle Sounders. This game, at Kino North down in Tucson, should feature two sides that are giving their depth a bit of a run.
The Sounders brought 14 of 16 current Tacoma Defiance players with them to Tucson, as well as two Academy kids (Drought, Fowler). Many of them will play today, as the starters will likely be on Saturday-Saturday schedules.
The Sounders have lost both preseason matches to this point, while the Timbers have won their preseason matches. Both teams are on similar training schedules since neither is in CONCACAF Champions League.
