For the previous ten years Seattle Sounders fans on the dryside had to count on tape delays and illicit streams to watch their beloved soccer team. That is no more as YouTube TV is now available throughout the state and will expand its previous Seattle and Spokane carriage to cover every corner of Washington except those within 75 miles of Portland.

“We’re thrilled to enter our second year of partnership with Sounders FC while also expanding our YouTube TV footprint throughout the full state of Washington, providing Sounders fans from Seattle to Spokane to the Tri-Cities the ability to watch local Sounders matches on YouTube TV,” said Tim Katz, Head of Sports Partnerships at YouTube, via press release.

YouTube TV is a cable replacement service that uses high-speed internet to deliver a package of local and national television stations as well as special programming such as the Sounders. In the Seattle area that means 60+ stations for ~$40 a month. Both of Major League Soccer’s English-language national television partners are on YouTube TV, so every league match and friendly will be available via the platform.

In the announcement the Sounders also stated that JOEtv, KUNS-TV, Sports Radio KJR and El Rey 1360 AM will remain broadcast partners. On-air talent remains unchanged with Keith Costigan, Kasey Keller and Steve Zakuani being the primary broadcasters on JOEtv (10/22/110). Studio talent will be Michelle Ludtka, Marcus Hahnemann and James Riley.

KJR’s play-by-play voice remains Matt Johnson with Wade Webber, Danny Jackson, and Pete Fewing being the analysts. Jackson Felts will host Sounders Weekly on Tuesdays at 7 p.m.

KUNS-TV (check local listings) is carrying at least 4 matches, and may add more throughout the season. Their Spanish language hosts are Jaime Mendez, Diego Arrioja and Jhon Kennedy Hurtado. It is the same channel that will also carry 14 nationally-televised regular season MLS games in Spanish.

“We are pleased to once again be carrying Sounders FC in Spanish and to bring this sport directly to our vibrant and vital local Hispanic community. And soccer is always more fun in Spanish,” said Janene Drafs, General Manager of KUNS-Univision Seattle. “Whether they say soccer or fútbol, Sounders FC has the best fans in the league.”

El Rey is carrying every MLS match, as well as Wednesday’s friendly. Their play-by-play staff remains ”Zuper” Mario Rodriguez, Carlos Tapia and Felipe Maqueda. El Rey’s 30-minute studio show will be Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. with Maqueda, Carolina Antipolo and Hugo M. Lopez.

The out-of-market streaming service for MLS remains ESPN+, which will be subject to blackouts.
