Jordan Morris lost MLS goal of the week, again

The world is unjust.

MLS: Seattle Sounders FC at Chicago Fire Kamil Krzaczynski-USA TODAY Sports

UPDATE: The world is a terrible place and Jordan Morris inexplicably lost to some guy who beat Portland.

Personally? I blame everyone who was rational about this contest. In times of such stark tribalism, this is where we decided to think rationally? A Goal of the Week poll?! COME ON PEOPLE.

This is the second time in three weeks Morris has lost MLS Goal of the Week. I fully expect him to return from international duty with a vengeance against the league and the voters of these trivial polls.

If there were still any lingering doubts about the validity of the Jordan Morris Comeback Tour™, they were laid to rest this past weekend when Morris notched a goal and assist against Chicago in the Seattle’s 4-2 victory.

The goal that Morris scored is up for MLS Goal of the Week for week 3. It had everything you want in a goal. First, Nicolas Lodeiro makes a beautiful curling pass around the Fire defense to find Jordan’s well timed run. Second, Morris has a lovely touch to skirt past an oncoming defender. And to top it all off, Morris does David Ousted dirty by lifting a deft chip over the onrushing keeper.

Our hometown kid faces some stiff competition this week, so let’s be sure to stuff the box for our boy. This is the second time this season that Morris is up for Goal of the Week. He inexplicably lost the week 1 contest to a Colorado Rapids tap-in. Let’s make sure that doesn’t happen again. Vote here; voting is open until midnight Pacific Time on Wednesday.
