Tonight’s Tacoma Defiance lineup will likely have a very strong Seattle Sounders flavor to it after six more players were loaned to the USL side. Bryan Meredith, Román Torres, Nouhou, Handwalla Bwana, Jordy Delem and Will Bruin all will be available for the the game against Sacramento Republic through a standard loan agreement. They join Trey Muse, Alex Roldan, Henry Wingo, Saad Abdul-Salaam and Jonathan Campbell who had previously been loaned to Tacoma.
That sets up a lineup that could feature as many as 10 First-Teamers for Tacoma and could mark the USL debuts for Torres and Bruin.
With the Defiance playing their second game in four days and the Sounders soon to play three games in eight days, this is likely seen as an opportunity to get some players minutes. Those have proven hard to come by on the First Team as the Sounders have managed to use the same starting lineup in all four matches and have rarely called on their reserves to play significant minutes. Of the 11 First Team players now on loan to Tacoma, none have more than 23 total minutes and they’ve all combined for just 43 minutes of playing time.
