For the third consecutive year, the Seattle Sounders will be participating in MLS’s Earth Day celebration by featuring some limited-edition gear. The kits—nicknamed “Blue Spirit and Legend Ink”—were “created from technical yarns containing Parley Ocean Plastic - upcycled marine plastic that has been reworked into fibers that are repurposed for apparel,” according to the release from the team.
The Sounders will feature in the “Blue Spirit” version of the kits, and in what many may feel is a pleasant change from Adidas’s recent preferred method of operation, neither set of jerseys are white.
All MLS teams will don the jerseys over the Earth Day weekend (April 19-21). The Sounders will wear the Blue Spirit kits as they take on Los Angeles FC on Sunday, April 21 in a match which could feature the last two undefeated teams, pending results over this weekend.
A limited number of the jerseys are for sale through the MLS website, and at the Sounders Pro Shops. The Sounders are 2-0 in the previous versions of the kits, having defeated the LA Galaxy 3-0 in 2017, and Minnesota United 3-1 in 2018.
