FULLTIME: The Sounders notched their biggest win of the season thanks to a two goal burst midway through the second half. Toronto did their best to storm back with a goal in the 70th minute and a flurry of stoppage time shots, but Stefan Frei came to the rescue with a massive save in the 92nd minute to clinch three points for the rave green.
SOUNDERS 3, TORONTO FC 2: Pozuelo showed his quality once again with a perfectly weighted through ball to split the Sounders back line and find Altidore in behind in the box. The U.S. international coolly finished the chance.

SOUNDERS 3, TORONTO FC 1: Kelvin Leerdam found Cristian Roldan in acres of space in the box after Roldan slipped behind Michael Bradley’s blind spot. Roldan then proceeded to smash in the Sounders third goal of the match.

SOUNDERS 2, TORONTO FC 1: The Lodeiro-Rodriguez-Smith triangle punished yet another MLS team as the three combined to set Smith free down the right. The Australian left back sent in an inch perfect low cross for Bruin to drive home with a striker’s finish.

HALFTIME: Two of the top teams in the league went blow for blow in the first forty-five with Altidore heading in the first goal off a back shoulder run before Bruin equalized with a header goal off a back shoulder run of his own. The Sounders created a handful of good chances but looked shaky defending the counter, particularly when Pozuelo found the ball.
SOUNDERS 1, TORONTO FC 1: Will Bruin provided good hold up play down the right before the Sounders switched play through the middle to find Brad Smith on the left. Smith sent in an early cross that may have deflected off of Marky Delgado before falling perfectly to Will Bruin who made a smart run in behind Laurent Ciman for a diving header equalizer.

SOUNDERS 0, TORONTO FC 1: Toronto knifed through Seattle’s midfield en route to an Alejandro Pozuelo cross that found Jozy Altidore running in behind Chad Marshall’s back shoulder for the match’s opening goal.

LINEUPS: The Sounders will roll out the same lineup for the second week in a row, most notably featuring Will Bruin in place of Raul Ruidiaz, who continues to recover from a heel contusion and is not in the 18. Through six matches, the Sounders have started 12 different players. Conversely, Toronto roles out a new lineup for fifth time in five weeks with Drew Moor and Auro out with injuries.
The Seattle Sounders are back in action today (Saturday, April 13th) after a week of interesting travel stories and frustrations. They will look to put all of that behind them as they take on an Eastern Conference opponent they know very well, Toronto FC. Although, this TFC side are much different than the side that Seattle faced in the 2016 and 2017 MLS Cup Finals. The same can be said for the Sounders, to be fair.
Absences: Injury, international duty and suspension
Seattle: Raul Ruidiaz is questionable with a heel contusion.
Opponent: Auro Jr. and Drew Moor will miss this game.
Keys to the Game:
- Toronto FC is the best opponent the Sounders have played against so far this season. The Sounders need to control tempo and not let the game get out of hand against an elite side, especially at home.
- The new kid on the block for TFC is Alejandro Pozuelo. He’s a fantastic player. He’s completely different from Giovinco, and Gustav Svensson will need to keep an eye on him.
- Attack quickly and attack often. TFC hates counter attacks and Seattle is quite good at them. Let’s do that and score some soccer goals.
