On their first of several successive road matches, the Seattle Sounders came up against a weirdly competent Philadelphia Union side. As it was the third match in a week, Brian Schmetzer rotated his squad and rolled out a fancy new formation to accommodate them. As intended, the new look stifled the opposition, securing a point on the road.
