We hope you’ve been enjoying the return of Reign FC player interviews as part of “Coffee & Valkyries.” Being able to chat with the players in the days between matches and getting to know a little bit more about them is an incredible privilege and a lot of fun. Even when they’re a player who has been here for a long time, like Reign Original Jess Fishlock — you always learn something new about her.
Fishlock had an incredibly busy and memorable off-season, playing for Olympique Lyonnais in France. You may have heard she won a treble with the club and took her game to a new level that she hopes can translate to success for Reign FC this season.
However it was being awarded Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) that she calls, without question, “the highest honor” in her life. On this episode of “Coffee & Valkyries,” you hear from Fishlock about that special day when she received the honor and got to share it with her family and closest friends in what she calls the best day of her life.
Also on this episode, we talk about the World Cup with Fishlock, and what Reign FC need to do to get the win this coming Saturday as they host Washington Spirit.
Like we did with our interview with Bethany Balcer, we asked Fishlock what three songs would she put on the matchday playlist. We understand the audio quality at that point of chat takes a hit, and it might be hard to make out what songs she listed. Worry not, as here they are in music video form.
