After some rather early weekend matches, Day 4 of the Women’s World Cup gives you a chance to sleep in on the West Coast. The first of two matches kicks off at 9 AM PT, with a Group D throw-down between Argentina and Japan.

The second match is a Group E affair between Cameroon and Canada. That game will air on FS1 and won’t kick off until 12 PM PT.

There shouldn’t be too many surprises for these matches, but the beauty of the World Cup is that you never know! Cameroon was a surprise in 2015, emerging out of the group stage over Switzerland. They haven’t had a lot of international matches to work into this tournament, though, and there’s questions about how well their defense can hold it together. But this could be one of those fun underdog stories you’ll want to follow.

What to Watch

  • Reign FC’s Rumi Utsugi hasn’t been getting starting minutes lately for Japan, but she’s a four-time World Cup veteran that can slot into the midfield or left back. It can’t hurt to have someone of her caliber on the field.
  • Christine Sinclair continues to score goals, and she is four goals away from breaking Abby Wambach’s all-time goal-scoring record. Canada has struggled to put in multiple-goal performances in the last year, but they’re very organized defensively. Can the get a few past Cameroon?
  • Argentina defied expectations to even make it to this World Cup. But they are going to have to play well beyond any previous performances if they want to advance out of their stacked group. Former Washington Spirit midfielder Estefania Banini can produce some magical moments — can she shine for Argentina in this World Cup?
