After a record-setting day for the U.S., we probably won’t see as many goals scored on Tuesday as group stage continues. But all three games have the potential to offer some intriguing matchups and exciting play.

The day starts with the battle of the underdogs in Group A, Nigeria and South Korea. Both teams were easily dismantled in their opening games, which means this could be an exciting affair.

At 9 AM PT, Reign FC’s Celia Jimenez Delgado and Spain have what should be their toughest group-stage match-up against Germany. The Germans will be without Dzsenifer Marozsan, who is being rested due to a broken toe.

The final match at 12 PM sees host country France face Norway, who should present more trouble than Korea.

What to Watch

  • Ji So-Yun didn’t have much possession against France, but she is a midfield maestro for her club team, Chelsea. She should get more of an opportunity to shine against Nigeria.
  • Spain had a slow start against South Africa, but came into their own in the second half. They’re so much more dangerous when they are moving the ball forward quickly, rather than focusing on slow possession. They’ll need to be quick and strong on the ball against a team like Germany.
  • Caroline Graham Hansen looked like one of the best players in the tournament in Norway’s opening match. She missed last World Cup due to an injury. She’s a crafty winger who could present problems for France.
