The Seattle Sounders defeated their Cascadia rivals, the Vancouver Whitecaps, thanks to a 60th minute wonder strike by 16-year-old Sounders sensation, Danny Leyva. After a scramble in the box involving fellow youngster Justin Dhillon and Whitecaps goalkeeper Zac MacMath, during which there was clearly no foul committed, the ball fell for the Sounders midfielder. His long range effort found its way between three Vancouver defenders and the crossbar, cementing Leyva’s place in the record books as the second youngest goalscorer in MLS history. Kelvin Leerdam later added an insurance goal in stoppage time.
