It’s an early start of the West Coast for Day 3 of the Women’s World Cup, and there could be some exciting matches on Sunday as teams from Group C and D battle it out. The day starts with Australia, where three Reign FC players will suit up: Lydia Williams, Elise Kellond-Knight, and Steph Catley. Their 4 AM PT match will be against Italy.

Jamaica and Brazil face off at 6:30 AM PT, but the real fun should be the 9 AM match between rival countries Scotland and England. This is Scotland’s first trip to the World Cup, and they are bolstered by two former Reign FC players: Kim Little and Rachel Corsie, who captains the squad. They’ll be up against current Reign FC forward Jodie Taylor, who scored a hat trick the last time she face Scotland in the 2017 EURO competition.

What to Watch

  • Australia has struggled defensively in recent months, having recently lost 3-0 to the Netherlands. They are the stronger team heading into this match against Italy — any team with Sam Kerr should score goals — but the Matildas will want to put in a strong defensive showing to get themselves some organization and confidence.
  • Finally, after a solid qualifying performance, we get to see Bunny Shaw suit up and play for Jamaica in their first World Cup. If she can get the ball frequently, Jamaica might surprise a few onlookers.
  • Kim. Little. Scotland sure didn’t get an easy draw for their first match. But they could make a statement with a win or draw against a top-ranked England. Little will be critical on both the offensive and defensive end. Keep an eye on the rising star Erin Cuthbert as well.
