TUKWILA, Wash. — In what is becoming a semiannual occurrence, rumors have once against started swirling around the possibility of Nicolás Lodeiro moving back to Boca Juniors. This time it was Lodeiro’s own words that were fueling the speculation, as he gave an interview to an Argentinian outlet saying he’d like to play there again.
When asked about it on Thursday, Lodeiro didn’t exactly walk back anything he said.
Regarding those reports about (mutual?) interest in Nico Lodeiro moving away from the @SoundersFC, here is his response. It...wasn’t a “no,” that’s for sure...#Sounders #MLS pic.twitter.com/2dMBx1a4OW

“They are always talking about me,” he said. “This is football. It’s happened every window. My focus now is playing with the Sounders. I love my job. Sometimes I read or sometimes my friends talk to me about this. But I prefer to train, play and in the end if something happens that is good for me and good for the club it’s good. But it’s always good when another club is talking about me.”
Lodeiro reiterated that he’s happy in Seattle and with the Sounders. This is also all consistent with previous statements he’s made, never wavering from the idea that he’d love to return to Boca Juniors some day but never giving any indication a move is imminent.
The Sounders, for their part, don’t seem particularly worried. Garth Lagerwey gave an interview on KJR in which he said Lodeiro’s kind words about Boca “isn’t any threat to us.”
Sounders head coach Brian Schmetzer effectively repeated that sentiment on Friday.
“There’s rumors all day long in this league,” Schmetzer said. “Nico has had a long history with Boca, but whenever I speak to him he’s very happy here. He loves Seattle and he loves the fans. It’s just white noise to me.”
