Ever since Clint Dempsey announced his retirement last year, it was assumed that he’d likely be leaving the Seattle area relatively quickly. But with his kids enrolled in school, the noted family man was likely reluctant to do it until the academic year was finished.
Well, the time has come. On Wednesday, Dempsey announced in classic Deuce fashion that he was putting his Kirkland home on the market and leaving the area.

Most seem to think Dempsey will be moving to North Carolina, where he apparently owns a home, attended college, and met his wife, who is from there.
Almost as notable as the announcement itself is the revelation that the home he’s been living in since 2015 is so ... normal. The five-bedroom, three-bath, 3,900-square-foot home is certainly nice, but it’s downright practical in its function. The Dempseys have four children, after all, which means they probably had no more than one guest bedroom. Even the yard looks to be a pretty standard size for the South Rose Hill neighborhood, as is the three-car garage. While the house was likely staged for these photos, the only hint that a well-paid former athlete lived there are some Sounders decorations in one of the bedrooms.
The couple apparently bought the house in 2015 for the perfectly reasonable price of $1.15 million and are now hoping to sell it for a tidy profit at $1.9 million, although Zillow estimates it’s worth closer to $1.6 million. As Dempsey would surely say, you gotta shoot your shot.
