The time to celebrate Friday’s victory at Houston Dash likely doesn’t exist as Reign FC are back in action midweek against that old familiar foe, the Portland Thorns FC. Defender Celia Jiménez Delgado etched her name in the storied rivalry between the two NWSL sides last month when her goal in the 55th minute earned Reign FC the win over their rivals on July 5th.
No better way to open your @ReignFC goal account than in a derby match. Congrats @celiajimdel! #RFC253 pic.twitter.com/oMRCmazjw6

Drafted in 2018 by Reign FC, Celia wasn’t able to join the team then as she was finishing her studies at the University of Alabama. It’s one thing for us to convey how excited she was to officially join the squad this season, but it would be a severe undersell. You have to hear it from the Spanish international herself.
And that’s exactly what you’ll do on this episode of “Coffee & Valkyries.” Get to know Celia Jiménez Delgado and why she is so excited to be playing here.
And as a bonus, here’s one of the songs that Celia said she had on the team playlist for that aforementioned July 5th match at Portland Thorns FC. Enjoy the tune!
