MLS window closes and the Sounders are expected to make moves. Premier League should have moves too.

The secondary transfer window closes at 10 PM PT. While rosters in MLS do not freeze till Aug. 30, MLS teams signing players under contract, need an ITC transferred, or are on another MLS team currently need to be moved before the window closes tonight. Teams may also sign players via a HGP contract until the roster freeze.

Teams do not have to announce the signing prior to the deadline closing, just have to submit the paperwork to the league. With that being said, most signings and trades will likely be announced or leaked before the window closes.

Two big moves are likely to be made official tomorrow, if they haven’t already, and will likely require corresponding moves. The Sounders are finalizing a deal with Emanuel Cecchini, who requires an international spot. The Sounders, unless they’ve made a trade already, do not have an open international spot and would need to acquire one or announce a player received their green card. Meanwhile the Galaxy, moved Emmanuel Boateng to DC United for TAM and brought in TAM from Orlando yesterday to clear space for signing Cristian Pavon from Boca Juniors. The Galaxy may still need to acquire more TAM or GAM to somehow get either Pavon or Romain Alessandrini out of DP status. The Galaxy, like the Sounders, also need an international spot.

The Sounders might make another move besides Cecchini, in addition to the international spot, but that is unclear as well. The league should be a flurry of activity in MLS.

Across the pond, most of Europe does not close until the end of the month but the Premier League moved their window up to 5 PM BST on Aug. 8, which is 9 AM PT on Aug. 8. Therefore, there should be a mass amount of activity as Premier League sides try to finish deals. The top six have some big deals that could close including Philippe Coutinho and Paulo Dybala to Tottenham (or Giovani Lo Celso and Bruno Fernandes if that fails), a centerback to Arsenal, Christian Eriksen to Manchester United, if Romelu Lukaku leaves United then a replacement for him, and will Wilfred Zaha leave Crystal Palace.

As we warn at all transfer windows, if you are following along via Twitter, you should be particularly careful with the sources you trust. Ask yourself – does the user use their real name (and does that name match their Twitter handle), are they a verified account, do they represent an outlet that exists beyond Twitter, do they link to that site, does the rumor make any sense?
