Emanuel Cecchini is the latest Seattle Sounders’ TAM player and he’s getting settled into life in the new city. While Cecchini is working on getting his visa cleared so he can play for the Sounders, he has sorted out what number he will wear: The No. 15 shirt.
Cecchini seems to favor the No. 15. When he was breaking through at his first club Banfield in Argentina, he first wore the No. 14. But after one season, he was able to make the switch to No. 15, the number he wore until he made his big European move to Spanish side Malaga. Once in Spain he donned the No. 19 shirt, seemingly because a more established player had his favorite number. He also wore the number 15 while on loan in Mexico with Club Leon. His most recently jersey number was No. 5.
The No. 15 has been a popular number for the Sounders. Cecchini is the eighth player to wear the number since the Sounders became an MLS team. Most recently it was worn by Tony Alfaro, and before that it was worn by Dylan Remick. Alvaro Fernandez is probably the most notable Sounders player to ever wear the number. Cam Weaver, Mario Martinez, Blair Gavin, and Stephen King (no, not the author) have also worn the shirt during their time with Seattle.
