While the LA Galaxy seem poised to grab the spotlight with the acquisition of Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez, both Sporting Kansas City and the Columbus Crew have spent some major cash in acquiring Liga MX stars Alan Pulido and Lucas Zelarayán. Both acquisitions represent something of a change of philosophy for the mid-market sides, and an acknowledgement that you’ve got to spend money to compete in MLS.
