Both Jordan Morris and Cristian Roldan have been given early releases from the United States men’s national team camp, allowing them to return to the Seattle Sounders earlier than expected as they prepare for Concacaf Champions League play on Feb. 20.
The Sounders are currently training in Southern California until Jan. 29. It was not immediately clear if Roldan and Morris will join the Sounders there or if they’ll be given some time off prior to training camp resuming at Starfire Sports Complex on Feb. 1. The USMNT camp started about a week earlier than Sounders preseason.
Roldan and Morris were two of the three players sent home before the Feb. 1 friendly against Costa Rica when the final 22-man roster was announced. San Jose Earthquakes goalkeeper JT Marcinkowski was also given an early release as there had been four goalkeepers in camp.
Not all the players who are competing in CCL were released, however. New York City FC’s Sean Johnson and Los Angeles FC’s Walker Zimmerman will remain with the USMNT.
