UPDATE: Peru’s National Team account confirms Raúl Ruidíaz’s positive case.

As if anyone needed a reminder that Covid-19 is still an ongoing risk, Raúl Ruidíaz is among four positive tests within the Peru national team, according to ESPN Peru. Ruidíaz is apparently not participating in today’s training session while awaiting the results of a second test.

Ruidíaz last played for the Sounders on Oct. 3 and has been with Peru since at least Oct. 7, meaning it’s unlikely he would have been infected while he was still in Seattle. By all appearances, the Peru national team has been taking reasonable precautions.

Ruidíaz started for Peru in their 2-2 draw with Paraguay on Oct. 8 and was expected to start again when they play Brazil on Tuesday.

If Ruidíaz’s second test comes back positive, it’s unclear how long he’d have to wait until returning to the United States. Once he returns, he’ll need to quarantine at least 10 days and will be tested every other day.
