The long-delayed makeup date for the previously postponed match against the LA Galaxy has now been rescheduled, giving the Seattle Sounders 23 regular-season matches. As expected, the Galaxy match will be played on Nov. 4 at Dignity Health Sports Park. It was the last remaining open date for both teams before Decision Day on Nov. 8.
The match had originally been scheduled for Aug. 26, but was one of five MLS matches to be canceled that night due to players’ refusal to take the field in the wake of Jacob Blake protests. The other four matches have already been made up.
Although this means the Sounders will visit the Galaxy twice without hosting them this year, it’s hard to be too upset. The Sounders are still scheduled to play 11 of their 20 in-market matches at CenturyLink Field. That also includes 9 of 18 post-MLS is Back matches.
In addition to the Galaxy match, the Sounders also announced that the Oct. 24 home match against the Portland Timbers has been moved to Oct. 22. That will give the Sounders an extra day of rest before going to Portland to play the Vancouver Whitecaps on Oct. 27.
