Ruidíaz had been quarantining in Peru since testing positive for Covid-19 last week. All indications are that he’s remained asymptomatic throughout. Assuming the Sounders medical team give him a clean bill of health, MLS protocols won’t require him to miss anymore games. It was initially feared that Ruidíaz would have to do a second quarantine after returning to the Sounders, but MLS ruled that he’ll be considered a “recovered person” and eligible to return immediately.
Ruidíaz has missed the Sounders’ last four matches since reporting to Peru for international duty. He last played on Oct. 8 in Peru’s 2-2 tie with Paraguay. The Sounders went 1-1-2 in those matches, scoring a total of four goals. The Sounders have four matches remaining in the regular season and are currently first in the Western Conference.
