Full-time: Well, it wasn’t an easy final twenty minutes but the Sounders were the better team tonight. Maybe they should’ve scored more and they definitely should’ve kept a cleansheet, but the Sounders will be happy with three points.

69’: Well, Nouhou finally scored a goal...

61’: Yeimar smash.

Halftime: The first half definitely started strong. The Sounders created loads of chances and got their goal in the 28th minute thanks to Morris. It would’ve been expected for the Sounders to get more goals, but they kept things comfortable with RSL not really threatening much.

28’: Jordan Morris is very good at soccer. This run and reaction is exhibit 42029303 in my case:

1’: Uh, that was fast! Except it was offside. Jordan Morris finds acres of space to run into from a Kelvin Leerdam ball but he’s flagged offside.

Lineups: I’ll admit, this is a much stronger lineup than I was expecting Brian Schmetzer to pick. Only those missing on International Duty are changed in the lineup. Will Bruin starts in the place of Raul Ruidiaz, Jordy Delem for Gustav Svensson, and Shane O’Neill for Xavier Arreaga.

The Seattle Sounders will host Real Salt Lake for the first time in 2020 tonight, as the quest to conquer the Western Conference continues. The Sounders are coming off a 3-1 victory over northern Cascadia rivals the Vancouver Whitecaps. Real Salt Lake’s recent fortunes haven’t been as good, as their coming off three loses and a draw in their last six matches. This will be the second time these teams play, as they split the points in the first meeting.

Three things we’d like to see

Rest up, Jordan

I know that the Sounders are without four starters off the bat. Joevin Jones is injured, and the other three are on international duty. But if we want to see Jordan Morris continue to play at an MVP-like level, Brian Schmetzer needs to find him some rest somewhere. This match against RSL is perfect for a 15-20 minute substitute appearance for Morris.

The Will Bruin Show starring Will Bruin

Here’s the big chance Bruin has been waiting for. Raul Ruidiaz will be gone for the next six matches, so it’s presumed that Bruin will get a run of games playing as the Sounders No. 9. Let’s see what Bruin can do.

Close the gap

RSL is one of six teams in the Sounders’ MLS regular season history that they have a losing all-time record against. RSL has two more wins in these matchups. Let’s get a W and close that gap.
