Steve Zakuani is constantly showing off an impressively multi-faceted skillset. From pacy winger to rapper to podcast host to sideline analyst, he seems to have a never ending well to draw from.
In addition to showing off his writing chops this year as a regular analyst on MLSsoccer.com, he’s now dabbling in radio play-by-play. There might not be a more specialized job in broadcasting than radio play-by-play, but that didn’t stop Zakuani from making his debut during a highly anticipated playoff game.
I’ll be the first to admit that I did not hear the whole call, but if the goal highlights are anything to go by, he at least handled the big moments well. Give them a listen:
All the goals. ⚽️

Almost as remarkable as Zakuani’s calls was Kasey Keller showing some genuine excitement on the third goal. Granted, he couldn’t help himself from calling the LAFC defense a “mess” but I’m willing to overlook that.
