By the time Nicolas Lodeiro was consciously watching soccer, Diego Maradona’s best years were well behind him. But like most South Americans, Maradona’s legend was something that transcended personal experience.
Given that, it’s hardly surprising Lodeiro chose to pay tribute to the fallen hero prior to Tuesday’s game.
Lodeiro wore a warmup jersey that read “1960-∞” on the front and “Maradona 10” on the back. The Sounders also appear to have printed up a game jersey with “Maradona 10” that Lodeiro held up during the pregame ceremony.
For Diego.
