The Sounders are heading back to their fourth MLS Cup Final thanks to one cunning waterfowl. Gustav Svensson, coming off of a positive Covid-19 test and subsequent quarantine, entered the match in the 77th minute with the Sounders trailing Minnesota 2-1.
I’m sure the Minnesota United squad watched plenty of tape leading up to the Western Conference Final matchup, but they forgot the cardinal rule: Don’t let the Goose get loose.
Well, the Goose got loose, and he wound up with the game winning goal and his celebration on this shirt.
