With most of the sports world on pause for the foreseeable future, we at Sounder at Heart want to make sure you’re not stuck working at home without anything fun to talk about. So in the spirit of our usual off-season plans, we’ll be reviving Open Flavor Fridays until soccer resumes, along with some other ideas for soccer-adjacent content throughout the rest of the week. We’ll still be bringing you morning links (to the extent that there is any news), but on most afternoons we’ll aim to give you a diversion so you can take a break from the dreary news to share in the enjoyable things that make this community great.

For our first OFF of the un-season, the topic is games to help pass the next six weeks cooped up in the house. Family or adult, no restrictions here, although if it’s something inappropriate for kids it might be good to note that in your comment.

In my house, on the video game side we’ve been playing a lot of Mario Kart 8, and on the tabletop side there have been many rounds of Exploding Kittens and Sushi Go, along with classics like Uno. All of them are deep enough to keep the adults interested for multiple rounds, but also straightforward enough that my daughter is competitive in them and beats me at least as often as I emerge victorious. What games – video, card or board – would you recommend for passing time indoors?
