More and more soccer culture is becoming a part of culture in general. That’s especially the case when it comes to fashion. Whether it’s PSG partnering with Jordan for their jerseys, the proliferation of soccer scarves and jerseys as fashion pieces rather than simply something for game days, or the undying popularity of the Samba from Adidas and other shoes trying to follow in those foot steps, soccer culture has a significant influence.

MLS is a part of that, but because the league’s teams are generally so young compared to their European and Latin counterparts, the teams aren’t as ingrained in the culture and community. Even the Seattle Sounders, who have existed in one form or another since their first game in 1974, have waxed and waned over the years in their place in the city’s collective consciousness.

With their position now as prominent as its ever been in the city and the league, fans have good reason to want to let people know that they’re a Sounders fan. While you could tell every person that you interact with like a stereotype of a vegan or crossfit enthusiast, it’s easier — and probably less off-putting — to do that with style.

Sounders fans looking for ways to rep the team beyond jerseys and what’s available through the MLS Store or the Pro Shop are set to have the best options in recent memory. Before the start of the season, MLS announced a 90s-influenced product line from Mitchell & Ness that’s set to come out this Summer. The offerings from Mitchell & Ness are consistently pretty impressive, with fun takes on teams and the cities that they represent at the heart of what they make. That said, the ‘90s weren’t necessarily good to all of us, and a ‘90s throwback line of merch isn’t exactly going to be everyone’s cup of tea. That’s OK, because Mitchell & Ness aren’t the only players in this game.

If simple streetwear or athleisure is more your style, you’re in luck. MLS’s deal with Reigning Champ to produce a limited line of gear for the current MLS Cup champions means that Sounders fans can pick up one of three pieces from the collection (while supplies last). The 2020 collection includes a white short-sleeve tee and a black long-sleeve tee, both of which feature “Sounders FC” and two stars on the front, as well as a fixture list from the 2019 season on the back. The two tops are a simple, stylish nod to the moment that band tour tees are having in the fashion world right now. The collection also includes a pair of black sweatshorts with a black and white version of the Sounders crest on the front and text on the back pocket commemorating the team’s two MLS Cup Championships.

For fans of vintage gear, Ebbets Field Flannels has released their Vintage American Soccer Collection honoring the NASL clubs of the ‘60s and ‘70s. While they weren’t a part of the initial group of teams included in the collection, Ebbets Field has confirmed that the Seattle Sounders will be represented. The collection includes the hats for which Ebbets Field are possible most well-known, as well as reproductions of vintage shirts and jackets. It’s not been confirmed exactly what colors, logos or marks will be used for the Sounders gear in this collection, it’s seems most likely — based on what’s been used for other teams - that they’ll feature the green and blue and the wave logo from the Sounders’ inaugural season in 1974.

If none of that strikes your fancy and you’d prefer a great graphic tee, you may want to take a moment to look at the Sounder at Heart store, a partnership with BreakingT.
