As the un-season continues, this week for Freeform Friday we’re shifting back away from soccer re-watches and into the wider world of video entertainment. We’ve all suddenly got a lot of time on our hands and a lot fewer options with which to fill those hours. If your house is anything like mine, that’s meant a lot more Netflix, more video games, and especially a lot more on-demand TV programming, but eventually we all run out of ideas and programs in our queue. So let’s share suggestions for what you have enjoyed watching to help build up our watchlists.
On the “live” TV front, the one show my house has been watching regularly is Lego Masters on FOX. I was a huge Lego fan as a child, and my parents kept most of my old sets after I grew out of that phase. When my daughter was old enough, they sent those sets to us and she got the building bug as well, bring me back into the hobby. We’ve never built anything nearly as impressive or complex as the designs featured on the show, but it has given us a lot of ideas for things to try building in the future. Plus it has all the usual schtick and drama of a reality TV competition, but without the contrived storylines of heroes and villains.
For streaming, judging by social media I think everyone has now watched Tiger King and has thoughts on that. The other thing my house been watching a lot of is the various baking and cooking competitions available on-demand from the Food Network. There’s something wholesome and innocent about them which helps briefly disconnect from the chaos going on in the world right now, plus it’s given me some inspiration for recipes to try making.
