Despite not having any actual soccer events to muse on, the Sounders’ digital team can still crank out some awesome content. According to the press release, Sounders head coach Brian Schmetzer has been hosting weekly video calls with the team. These calls served as inspiration for the design.
The Sounders partnered with artist and longtime fan Bill Wood and inaugural Sounders FC Alliance Member Tony Ciocca, a partner at Column design studio in Pioneer Square, to create the illustration. If some of the design elements look familiar, that’s because Wood has previously worked with the team to design matchday posters. Column has also worked with the team in the past, most notably designing elements of the 2019 MLS Cup Championship Celebration.
The design absolutely nails the personalities and unique aspects of each individual. Nouhou is a train conductor. Raul is posting something wild on Instagram. Frei is gaming AND painting. Cristian is eating pizza. What’s your favorite?
The shirt is $24.99 and the hoodie is $49.99; both can be purchased here. Proceeds will go to the Seattle Sounders FC Relief Fund.
