On the list of notable achievements in Seattle Sounders history, being crowned as “Best MLS Jersey” of all time is one that probably near the bottom of the list. But damnit, it sure was satisfying to see Pitch Black surge to victory in the four-round Twitter tournament conducted by MLS.

Along the way, Pitch Black faced some stiff competition. It beat the Vancouver Whitecaps in the Round of 32, before dispatching the Portland Timbers in the Round of 16 and topping Minnesota United to book its spot in the final group of four. In the final round it garnered 37 percent of the nearly 36,000 votes that were cast, beating runner-up Atlanta United by 11 points. Also making the final group were the 1997 Kansas City Wizards and 1998 New England Revolution.

It’s entirely fair to point out that there’s a valid argument to be had that this isn’t the objectively “best” Sounders jersey of all time, but it is notable that this one did win a pair of other recent polls. Pitch Black also came out on top of recent Sounder at Heart and Sounders contests.
