Will Bruin was one of the standout players in last Friday’s intra-squad scrimmage, scoring the opening goal in his team’s 3-0 win. Unfortunately, however, that may be the last time he plays for a bit.
Bruin suffered an injury to his tibia in the match that will keep him out for 4-6 weeks, Sounder at Heart has learned. The good news is that despite a bit of a scare, Bruin’s repaired ACL was fine. Bruin is still expected to travel with the team to Florida for the MLS is Back Tournament with the hope that he can play in the later stages.
Up until the scrimmage, Bruin’s recovery from the ACL tear that he suffered almost exactly a year ago had been going about as well as could be expected. The 30-year-old had been a full participant in training by the time the season was put on hold in mid-March and was hoping to make his playing return in early April.
