Henry Wingo scores first European goal

Sounders Academy product has been a consistent contributor for Molde this year.

Henry Wingo seems to be settling in nicely with Molde since the Norwegian side returned to action. The Sounders Academy product got his second start of the season and has now appeared in seven of eight matches as Molde has gone 7-0-1.

Even better, Wingo scored his first European goal in Wednesday’s 5-0 win over Viking.

Joining the attack from his right back spot — a positional move that started while he was with the Sounders — Wingo collected a ball about 25 yards out, settled himself with a couple touches and then unleashed a rocket from the penalty area that beat the goalkeeper to the near post.

Wingo joins a growing list of Sounders Academy products who have scored in Europe. That list includes Ugo Okoli (five goals), DeAndre Yedlin (three goals), Seyi Adekoya (three goals) and Victor Mansaray (one goal).
