RECAP: The Sounders are able to shake off the bad defeat in Orlando against LAFC tonight as they knock off the same LAFC team 3-1. It started with an absolute banger from Raul Ruidiaz and ended with Jordan Morris getting a brace in one minute.

It started off with LAFC jumping down the throat of the Sounders, but then Seattle’s first touch in the attacking third was an absolute golazo from Ruidiaz. And LAFC just couldn’t come from behind.

The second half started off completely different. Seattle sensed an opportunity to put the match to bed and by the 50th minute it was 3-0. For the first goal, Nicolas Lodeiro was able to find Jordan Morris running in behind and Morris was able to round LAFC’s keeper to slot it home. Off of the kickoff from that goal, LAFC was lax on the ball and Joao Paulo was able to counter up the field, finding Morris with an inch perfect pass.

LAFC pulled one back but was unable to mount a comeback in the end. Seattle plays RSL on Wednesday at altitude.

60th MINUTE: LAFC pulls one back with a well worked ball and Diego Rossi slots it home.

49th MINUTE: JORDAN MORRIS SCORES TWICE IN A MINUTE

First goal:

Second goal:

46th MINUTE: Looks like Raul can’t carry on. Will Bruin on at the half.

HALFTIME: Well, this one started with a bang but ended up being sort of a snoozer. Ruidiaz’s goal is the difference as LAFC has more shots, but not much actually separates these two in this one. It looked like Raul came up with a limp right before halftime, so that’s something to keep an eye on.

12’ MINUTE: Raul Ruidiaz. Wow. Take a freakin’ bow.

LINEUPS: Seattle goes with an unchanged from their match against Portland. It’s essentially a first choice lineup with Shane O’Neill playing at CB instead of Xavier Arreaga, who is back from injury.

LAFC inserts Bradley Wright-Phillips & José Cifuentes in the place of injured Carlos Vela and Eduard Atuesta. Cifuentes was added as depth this last offseason, has played in 5 of LAFC matches this year, totally just north of 100 minutes. He has big shoes to fill tonight.

Capping off what has to be one of the most interesting weeks in MLS history, the Seattle Sounders will resume play tonight against LAFC. This will be the first match at CenturyLink since March 7th! Despite the famous playoff win last season that saw the Sounders defeat LAFC, 3-1, in LA, Seattle has never beaten LAFC in the regular season. Tonight might be the Sounders’ best chance yet to do so. LAFC will be without Eduard Atuesta and league MVP Carlos Vela, and Seattle is mostly at full strength.
